Booking Your Appointment

Southampton Registry Office operates strictly on an appointment-only basis. You can book appointments by calling 023 8091 5327 or emailing registrars@southampton.gov.uk. For urgent marriage and civil partnership enquiries outside office hours, call 023 8023 3344 for the out-of-hours service.

Required Documents for Births

When registering a birth in Southampton, bring the following:

• Valid photo identification (passport, driving licence or birth certificate)
• Proof of address (driving licence, council tax bill, utility bill)
• Marriage or civil partnership certificate (if applicable)
• Child’s personal health record (red book) – may be required
• Baby’s details (name, date of birth, place of birth, sex)
• Mother’s full details (name, maiden name, place of birth, address, occupation)

Certificate Costs and Processing

All certificates cost £12.50 each. Standard processing takes up to 15 working days, posted by 2nd class mail. Priority service costs £38.50 for next-day collection or posting if ordered before 3pm. Collection available Monday-Friday, 10:30am-2:30pm (except bank holidays).

Very limited parking is available at the Registry Office – one ceremony car only in marked bays. Larger cars and limousines must park on Bugle Street. One disabled bay is available inside the gates and one outside. Use the parking map and search ‘Bugle Street’ for nearby alternatives.

Accessibility

Both the Golden Jubilee Room and Magnolia Room are on ground floor with easy access for guests. The building provides accessible facilities, and if both disabled bays are occupied, alternative parking must be found nearby.
